Portfolio reviews and professional networking opportunities will be in the air when Rochester Institute of Technology hosts its 13th Creative Industry Day from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. March 29 in Gordon Field House.
Creative Industry Day — open to RIT students and alumni — is sponsored by RIT’s Office of Career Services and Cooperative Education in collaboration with the College of Imaging Arts and Sciences (CAD), the B. Thomas Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences and RIT Alumni Relations. The portfolio-based event is designed “for creatives by creatives” and is geared toward CAD students.
Creative Industry Day presents CAD students a chance to connect with experts from a number of creative fields and receive career-launching advice in a career fair-type environment.
Leading up to the event, attendees can ensure preparedness, thus potential job offers, by having their portfolios ready for evaluation.
The dozens of businesses of all sizes, from across the country, expected at RIT include Google, The Mill and Fisher-Price, among many others.
Two hour-long career panels featuring creative industry professionals are scheduled to kick off the day, with one each at 11 a.m. and noon. The panel topics are “Striking out on Your Own” (11 a.m.) and “First Impressions” (noon).
Portfolio reviews are slated for 1-6 p.m. In the past, many RIT alumni have been on panels and represented companies seeking RIT talent at Creative Industry Day.
There is no registration required for any of the day’s happenings — RIT identification will just be needed to check in.
