AP, International Baccalaureate and Transfer Credits

AP Credit and International Baccalaureate Credits

Rochester Institute of Technology accepts Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) credits earned in high school depending on the score attained on the applicable AP or IB exams. Students are asked to contact http://www.collegeboard.org/ and have their AP scores and IB transcripts sent directly to the RIT Office of Undergraduate Admissions. For information on how your AP credit will be articulated, see the link below:

Transfer Credit

For incoming students, a transfer credit evaluation is completed as part of the application process. Credit is granted by your academic department for coursework that is related to your intended program, provided it is taken at a regionally accredited college or university. Contact your academic advisor to complete the pre-approval process. A grade of “C” or better is required for transfer credit to be awarded.

Current students may take classes elsewhere and transfer the credit to RIT, provided the student has obtained pre-approval  and the coursework is taken at a regionally accredited college or university. Contact your academic advisor to complete the pre-approval process.  A grade of “C” or better is required for transfer credit to be awarded.  When the coursework is complete and graded, it is the student’s responsibility to request an Official Transcript be sent to the RIT Registrar’s Office at this address:

Rochester Institute of Technology
Office of the Registrar

Important!

Students must adhere to the RIT Residency Requirement to meet graduation requirements (no more than 10 of the last 30 semester credits toward your degree may be earned through transfer credit).

Please direct questions regarding transfer credit to your academic advisor.
